Congress and the White House are intent on ramming through three job-killing trade

agreements. That’s why you need to tell your senators and representatives to stop the

South Korea, Panama and Colombia free trade agreements and get to work promoting job

growth in the United States, rather than offshoring American jobs.

 

 AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka says that similar trade deals like NAFTA, which has

cost nearly 700,000 jobs and created a $97 billion trade deficit with Mexico, have been “a

miserable failure for working people” and these new deals follow in NAFTA’s footsteps.

 

Working people need to make our voices heard—and we need to fight hard. 

We need to be creating jobs—not passing agreements that will offshore more jobs and

leave more communities behind.

Colombia is the most dangerous country in the world for trade unionists, with one such

murder occurring nearly every week–but their killers are seldom brought to justice. Says

Trumka:

 

I doubt very much Congress and the White House would be passing a trade deal with a

country where a CEO was murdered every week.

The proposed Korea trade deal would cost an estimated 159,000 U.S. jobs and according

to trade experts who have studied the deal,its loopholes could open the doors for goods made in China or even sweatshops and North Korea, but labeled in South Korea.

 

The Panama agreement contains most of the problems of the other two says Trumka,

including deregulating big banks and letting foreign investors bypass U.S. health, safety

labor and environmental laws. In addition,

Panama is also a tax haven: a place where tax-dodging, money-laundering millionaires and

billionaires hide their money.

Since the mid 1990s, more than 5,000 women have been trafficked into  South Korea for

sexual services for United States servicemen, according  to a report from the International

Organization for Migration.

 

These  trafficked women have typically come from N.Korea,China, the Philippines,

Russia and  Eastern Europe and were lured to work as prostitutes in bars frequented  by US servicemen stationed in South Korea.

 

South Korea is both a source and destination country for human  trafficking.

Mainly Russian and Southeast Asian women are brought into  the country for prostitution by Korean employment agencies, many of whom  are tricked into thinking they will have a legitimate job.

 

 Many female  migrant workers are recruited by Korean employment agencies to come to  the country to work.

 

A Los Angeles police spokesman said that about 90 percent of the  department's 70-80 monthly arrests for prostitution involve Korean women  and Los Angeles police estimates that there are 8,000 Korean  prostitutes working in that city and its suburbs.

A US State Department report titled, "Trafficking in person's report:  June 2008," states that in "March 2008, a joint operation between the  AFP and DIAC broke up a syndicate in Sydney that allegedly trafficked  South Korean women to a legal brothel and was earning more than $2.3  million a year.

 

 Police allege the syndicate recruited South Korean women  through deception about the conditions under which they would be  employed, organized their entry into Australia under false pretenses,  confiscated their travel documents, and forced them to work up to 20  hours a day in a legal Sydney brothel owned by the syndicate."

 

 Hundreds of thousands of Chinese women are engaged in the  prostitution businesses such as hugetel, massage parlor, karaoke room,  room salon and so on in Korea.

Most of Chinese prostitutes are legally  staying in Korea by getting green-cards by marrying Koreans, or visas  for study, travel, work.

 

About 20,000 Chinese women marry Koreans every  year and a quarter of them disguise their marriages.

Most of these women  are engaged in the prostitution businesses in Korea.

 

Many of these women live a  life similar to that of a slave as they are kept from a regularincome,  live in horrible conditions, are forced to sell sex, and often face  violence.

 

"Hidden fees, charges, employer fines, forced savings and  other fees often completely deprive these women of salaried income  forcing them to sustain themselves on a

commission system based on the  sale of drinks, and can virtually turn them into

indentured servants,"  the report reads.

The sale of sex takes a diversity of forms, and becomes subtler as  our society develops.There are more than 60 areas in the whole country  that can be identified as prostitutionareas, including red-light  districts and military camp towns (Research Institute for Criminal  Policy 1993).

 

 Most of them have a long history. In addition,  entertainment establishments like salons,Karaokes, 'cushion rooms',  ticket tea-rooms, massage parlors, steam bath houses, and'barber  shops', together with a variety of food and health-related venues are  engaged in prostitution.

 

Recently, the newest trends for prostitution  are information rooms - prostitution that relieson phone-services,  telephone-rooms (where male clients can make phone calls in one ofthe  dozens of phone rooms to talk directly with sex workers), the internet,  and illegal

 

clubs which introduce male members to women, and make  profits by taking a proportion of the women's income.

 Furthermore there  is 'compensation dating' where teenage girls go out and have sexwith  men in exchange for mobile phones, clothes or cash allowances.

 

 These  establishments and practices are not only found in cities all over the  country,but also in the most remote corners of provinces.

 

 Red light districts in South Korea can compare to those of Amsterdam  .

The four main red light districts in South Korea p are  Cheongnyangni 588, Yongsan Station, and Mia-ri in Seoul and Jagalmadang  in Daegu.

 

While not all of them are operating to full capacity, some  still exist while being tolerated not only due to the vast amount of  money that is involved in the business, but also in an attempt to  control the sex industry.

Other sexual services include Gataek Massaji which is an "in-call"  massage where the customer would travel or meet at the masseuse's home  or quarters, and Chuljang Massaji or an "out-call" massage where the  masseuse travels to the customer's place, love motel, hotel, or another  disclosed location.

Since 1945, U.S. troops have been stationed in the Korean peninsula,  with their current

strength estimated to be 28,500.

 

The country plunged  into civil war between 1950 and 1953 and since then, U.S. troops

have  remained there, claiming to act as a deterrent against North Korea, the  country's

communist neighbour.

 

Prostitution in the region is a direct  result of their presence. The US troops are stationed

in South Korea in  almost 100 military bases.

 

Most of such sex outlets operate round-the-clock, with sex-workers  ranging from

15-40 appearing in colorful costumes and heavy make-ups. 

Though prostitution  is illegal in South Korea, authorities are generally very reluctant

in  taking any action against rampant growth of this trade in the country. 

 

In some cases, high profile government and military officials are also  seen regularly

attending the Cocktail Lounges in Korea, where, some of  them even maintain permanent

'mistress' or concubines.

 

But recently  Seoul police started crack-down on the brothels, which has already  angered

huge numbers of the sex workers in that country.

 

Young and innocent u.s kids received the serious sex disease,such as H.I V from

young attractive Korean prostitutes young as 13, were trafficked and committed suicide.

 

Large number of South Korean sex workers bear  child from American soldiers. Several U.S. soldiers have married local  prostitutes,

in many cases impregnating them, only to later abandon  them.

Luckily, Drug, Alcoho,l, love and Sex in the Korean psyche are not as conjoined

as  they are in the US.

 

Who loves S. Korea even in Asian countries? Almost none.

and millitary force so that her people don't starve and not continue to be uneducated unskilled leeches. S. Korea never wants to "win" wars because they want to become "leeches" to the U.S. and Japan.

 

The military authorities of the South Korean  have small immature brain as for the armaments  level is far lower than India and Vietnam-brain.

 

Seoul should encourage peaceful change in the DPRK whenever possible, but the

possibilities look minimal in the midst of a potentially destabilizing leadership transition in

the North.

 

Neither a physically weak Kim Jong-il nor a politically weak successor is likely to abandon

North Korea’s “military first” policy, which makes peaceful coexistence so difficult.

 

As long as the Kim regime emphasizes military bluster, the South should emphasize

military strength—as when it recently redeployed its surface-to-surface missiles capable

of targeting Pyongyang.

At the same time, Washington should withdraw militarily from the peninsula. The South is

capable of defending itself, while the United States gains nothing from remaining entangled

in the one Cold War conflict which has survived the end of the Cold War.

There are no good answers in Korea.

Obviously, Seoul cannot help but be involved, but appeasement has failed as a strategy.

 

We've got nearly 40,000 troops in South Korea and we're spending billions of

taxpayer dollars to keep them there.

And a significant portion of the Korean population actually wants the US military out

of South Korea.

And I know for a fact that a signficant number of South Koreans are pretty racist

against Americans of all colors as well!

Meanwhile, there are American citizens who served in the US military who are

literally on the streets begging.

Long story short, the federal government has failed "We, The People".

 37,000 Americans who were killed during the Korean War,I think that's enough...don't want to New U.S. War in Korea.

 

 

Thankfully, the United States doesn’t have to be involved.

For America, disengagement from Korean peninsula is the answer.

This applies to recent comments made by Korean Japanese Ichiro Ozawa towards his own

political leader and this is further evidence of Ichiro Ozawa sinking into the pits of contempt

and political shenanigans.

Ichiro Ozawa lambasted Prime Minister Naoto Kan not from sincerity but because of the

desire of political office and if he destroys what he helped to create; then this will not

concern him.  Therefore, the “shadow shogun” attacked his own leader and implied that the

leadership of Naoto Kan is inept.

True to the nature of Korean-Jaoanese Ichiro Ozawa, who is tainted by the funding saga,

he can say this with a straight face despite him belonging to the LDP in the past. 

However, surely he had ample time to demand safety procedures or raise serious issues

related to TEPCO when he belonged to the LDP.  After all, he was  junior member (Under

the PM.Tanaka- Miyazawa in the Recruit Scandal and Korean Chinese corruption scandal )

because at one time he was the Chief Secretary of the LDP.

その汚職にまみれた政治体質は、今や民主党を飲み込んでいる状態だ。

 The monies and other benefits steered by companies into the political world in search of specific policy favours (including public works contracts) are channelled to individual politicians (and bureaucrats), not to political parties. This kind of political corruption is very much linked to the role of individual politicians as interest mediators and business brokers (it is quintessential clientelism, as opposed to sectionalism and localism, other kinds of special interests of high prominence in Japanese politics);

 the old adage that a public prosecutor should not bring too much ‘chaos’ to national politics. In spite of Ozawa (and others) hinting at a conspiracy behind the timing of his secretary Takanori Okubo’s arrest, in fact, the Special Investigation Department of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office was all too aware of the potential political consequences of their action, conscious of the fact that if they let matters go much longer, they would have to arrest Okubo much closer to the next general election (to the DPJ’s great detriment);

  that politicians can almost always rely on the fact that there will be insufficient evidence for an indictment and subsequent conviction to be successful. In the meantime, denial is the best defence because prosecutors invariably rely on confessions as their main source of evidence. Both Ozawa and Okubo strongly deny any wrongdoing;

  that being tarnished by money politics is no barrier to political survival. It looks as if Ozawa will stay on as DPJ leader, and unless the PPO can get the dope on him, there’s little chance they could actually charge him with anything;

  that it is possible to make political capital out of scandal by converting the issue into calls for political reform (e.g. Miyazawa in the Recruit scandal). Ozawa has proposed that all donations from companies and organisations to political parties should be banned, knowing full well that this has little chance of succeeding with the LDP and his own party still relying on business and its offshoot organisations as their main bank-rollers;

  that the public works industry funded by the national and local government budgets remains the most reliable source of ‘money in exchange for favours’ for Diet politicians, thus representing an additional source of public funding for politicians.

 The Ozawa-Okubo-Nishimatsu scandal shows how:

 Opposition politicians can still exercise influence over the allocation of public works contracts – presumably not by pressuring central government bureaucrats/semi-administrative agencies because they are not in government – but by pro-actively organising big-rigging amongst contractors (i.e. by coming in through the business end of the deal and prearranging winners of contracts for public works projects), something that companies usually organise all by themselves and which is usual sense in which dango is understood. Full marks for ingenuity, particularly when you’re out of power.

 

Of course, as the most prominent politician from Iwate, Ozawa has continued to exercise a great deal of clout over local government in Iwate and even in Tohoku more broadly, and these local governments let out public works contracts too. that the primary figure in this kind of bid-rigging can be the secretary himself (e.g. Okubo), so the bigwig can remain at arms length (NB first point above).The Ozawa scandal illustrates once more how, after more than a decade of reform, the underlying realities of Japanese politics remain the same.

Filmed in a cool teal-and-gray color scheme, and accompanied by

some nicely-chilled down-tempo music,

 

we get a succession of images of goofy, well-dressed,

nouveau riche hep-cats in various languid poses vainly fighting,

I guess, the ol' ennui.

Various adjectives float about the screen in a non-sequitur

accompaniment: Exquisite, Visionary, Breathtaking, Graceful,

Pledging (WTF is “pledging”??), and Understanding.

 

Also, The “Understanding” badge is the oddest of them all:

some guy holding a champagne bottle at crotch level,

popping the cork with one hand, while an expensively-shod

pair of women's feet dominate the fore screen.

Turkey,France, Germany Jointly Seek Sub Sale to Indonesia

A team of Turkish and German companies and Turkey's arms procurement office are seeking to sell two HDW 209-type diesel submarines to Indonesia, worth about $1 billion, in a competition against South Korean rivals, a senior Turkish procurement official said.

In a tender opened by the Indonesian Navy earlier this year, French and Russian offers fell off and South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine emerged as the leading candidate. Daewoo was expected to bid together with Germany's Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW), but later decided to compete on its own.

HDW, a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, faced the threat of being left out of the deal. It approached the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM), Turkey's defense procurement agency, to seek the Indonesian contract jointly, the procurement official said.

This came just as President Abdullah Gul paid an official visit to Indonesia in April, when the two countries signed a comprehensive defense industry cooperation agreement. Both are Muslim nations that share close political and cultural ties, and they are developing their industrial relations.

HDW also is co-manufacturing with Turkey six modern U 214-type diesel submarines for the Turkish Navy. Turkey earlier built with HDW a set of 14 U 209-type subs.

HDW in June sent a letter to SSM, confirming that "SSM is entitled to market and sell HDW-class U 209 1,400-ton submarines to be built in Turkey for the Project of Procurement of Diesel Electric Submarines by the Indonesian Navy."

Then came SSM's sweeteners. In a letter sent to Adm. Soeparno, SSM chief Murad Bayar said that "our offer includes one or two 209-class submarines leased to the Indonesian Navy as a 'gap-filler' solution until your submarines have been built."

Bayar also pledged maximum work share for Indonesian defense companies, including national shipyard PT-PAL, emphasizing HDW's full support for the Turkish bid.

"As a well-known worldwide brand and proven technology, 209-class submarines shall increase your country's industrial capabilities and will bring us a chance to share our knowledge to provide regional peace and stability," Bayar said.

Next, in a letter to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in late July, Gul confirmed and reiterated Turkey's sweeteners and called for increased defense industry cooperation.

But Daewoo Shipbuilding's CEO said Aug. 28 that he expected Indonesia to name his company as the preferred bidder.

"We expect the deal will be signed within this year once the Indonesian government earmarks the budget," Nam-Sang Tae said, according to news reports.

If the Turkish bid is preferred, the two class-209 submarines will be built at Turkey's Golcuk naval shipyard by the Turkish company STM under the license of

HDW.

中国が一度不況に入れば、自力再生は不可能でIMFの管理下に入り、中国一極集中して

Thus, on 29 January 1946 General HQ of Supreme Commander for Allied Powers issued the memorandum SCAPIN – 677 that has the following definition: “For the purpose of this directive, Japan is defined to include the four main islands of Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Kyushu and Shinkoku) and the approximately 1,000 smaller adjacent islands, including… Habomai… and Shikotan Island.”北方4島、竹島は日本領土で間違いは無い。

USSR didn’t sign the San-Francisco Peace Treaty due to the complex situation in Asia and the new role of the Communist China that was not invited to participate despite being one of the main victims of the Japanese aggression while Western Allies recognized the Kuomintang government in Taiwan. Russia remains legally entitled to use the ocean as a disposal site for low-level

wastes as a result of its formal objection to the amendment. Further,

it is suggested that activity and ecosystem-specific regulations merely transfer

the risks associated with the activity and may actually result in greater environmental

 

harm. For this reason, the London Convention and indeed all international agreements

should consider the global impacts of environmental regulations prior to prohibiting an

activity.

以前「米国の仮想敵国」でもあります。

 

日米双方の危険や戦争屋の罠を潰し、前向きに立ち向かわなくてはなりません。
